August 9, 2011 Update

It's been a while since I gave you all an update on the work going on with Steve Wadha's Excellent CB919 Honda Hornet. It's been determined that the bike was in a major crash on the right side and a less serious one on the left side. Here's a list of the Damage and what we did about it:

  1. Damaged Fuel tank. Crunched on both sides and right rear. Ordered new one!
  2. Scuffed Front Fender. Installed new one.
  3. Broken and damaged tail cowl. Installed new one.
  4. Both Rear View mirrors scuffed badly. Installed new ones.
  5. Instrument holder is deeply scuffed/gouged. We'll try to grind down, smooth out and paint it. A new one is $68.00 so we'll try to repair this one.
  6. Handlebar end weights missing. Installed new ones.
  7. Stock stainless steel exhaust system heavily rusted and discolored. Removed it and used electric drill with wire brush to clean it up. Re-installed with new gaskets. Very difficult to do as some of the exhaust header studs are bent from crash damage.
  8. In the process of removing the exhaust we had to remove the radiator. Discovered that it is not the stock unit ( What a surprise! ) and that its top mounting point was attached with the striker plate from a door (like in your house) and a nut an bolt. Pictures are posted but you had to see this to believe it. I'll get a proper mount fabbed up in no time. What a hack job. Thank God for JB Weld!
  9. In the eBay ad Steve goes to great length to tell you that he had "New Disc Brakes Installed!" . Right........He had new pads installed up front and the fluid replaced. Terrific. Forgot the back brakes which he obviously used a lot as most amateurs do. The pads were almost down to the metal backing plate so we replaced them.
  10. Signals and rear lights not working. Wires were just dangling under the bike. The after market signal had a huge screw stuck in it to hold the lense on. Trashed those and part of the fender eliminator.
  11. Replaced the clutch cover. Too badly damaged to repair. Will sand down and paint the alternator cover.
  12. Bike has aftermarket footpegs on it because the stock ones were undoubtedly ruined in one of the two crashes that this bike was involved in. The aftermarket footpegs are the boy racer style which is ok until it gets wet out but they had not installed the return springs to make them go back down if they folded up. Installed new springs and will be keeping an eye out for a set of original footpegs.
Been a bit more work and a lot more expense than I planned but as soon as the new tank arrives we'll be ready to ride. That's assuming the JB Weld holds the radiator mounting tab on .

The purpose of this blog is two fold. First, to show everyone what a reprehensible person Steven Wadha is and more importantly to serve as an example to my friends and anyone who reads this blog of what can go wrong with buying a bike seen on eBay. I made my call to Steven Wadha after the bike no saled on eBay and made my deal directly with him.
BIG WRONG AND MISTAKE #1-If I had bought the bike on eBay as it was presented I would have had the recourse to make him take the bike back and get a refund because of all the misrepresentations he made. Lesson: Buy it thru eBay!

Mistake #2-Never take a persons word. Make them send you pictures. Lots of pictures. I made the mistake of taking a man's word and it cost me a lot of money to correct all the things that he said were excellent on the bike. I should have asked for more pictures and if I had seen what the bike really looked like I would have either negotiated the price down or bought something else.

    Hi Everybody!

I’m Steven Frank Wadha, Jr from 33166 Raphael Raod in

    Farmington Hills, Michigan 48336-1774

    I used to live at

286 North Saginaw Street APT 4 in

    Pontiac, Michigan 48342

I’m the feller that jist sold a bike to a guy name of Dennis. He lives over in PA and me being here in Michigan which is a fer piece away I hornswaggled him but good. I took a few pitchers that didn’t turn out tu good and put em up on eBay so I could sell this bike. I bought it a year ago from my cousin’s sister. Actually she’s married to her cousin now but that’s another story.

Any way Dennis called me on the phone and asked me a bunch of questions about the bike. Heck I din’t know half the answers but I told him the thing was in excellent shape even tho it weren’t. See it tipped over in the driveway once when I dint put the kik stand down rite and scratched up the engine cover on the side pretty bad and put a whale of dinger in the tank and dented the radiator. The tank didn’t leak or nothin so I thought everything would be ok. It didn’t show up in the pitchers so I didint tell him about that. I also didint tell him about the chunk of plastic that fell out of the tail piece and how the grab bar in th back was all beat to he*l. I figered it was all jist cosmtic cause the biek still ran good. I dint tel him about the crash and how I had that banged up the rite side. I lost the one side cover in that one and really gouged up the engine cover, gas tank and muffler that time. And scratched up the front fender and mirror tu. My laig hurt like a son of a b for a while even after they took out the stichs.

Anyway, Dinnis sends me a cashiers check and then has his truck pick up the beik. When the truck got to dinnis place well that’s when the truble started. He took a whole bunch of pitchers that showed all the stuff wrong witrh the bike and told me he wantd his muney back. I told him it was tu late casue I already put the money down on a snow plow. It snows a lot here and I can make good money come wintertime. Then Dinnes says he wants me to pay for all the stuff that’s wrong with the bike and sends me a sheet. I cant figure what half the stuff is but I guess Dinnis knows cause he says he was motorcycle dealr. I told him I coudint afford tu pay for all that stuff and it was just him makin a big deal out of nuthin. He told me that unless I pade him for the banged up stuff he was gonna put me on the Internet and make me famus. I sadi go right ahed so he did!

Here’s thje article my girl wrote up for me for eBay. She writes pretty good:

For sale is a 2003 Honda CB 919f. If your looking for SPEED & POWER~This one has both! The HORNETcomes with a high-powered Twin-V, 4 stroke engine which really puts it in a class by itself! A more of an upright seating position, {nice for cruising around all day}...Its sheeer power that tackles any obstacles or any other bike on the road out there!

The Honda CB has a reputation for being the most versitile motorbike on the road. With the upright seat positioning you will feel like you own the road, knowing all the power that is between your legs~it gets the respect it deserves in any class its in!

*This bike is well maintained~it looks and runs excellant!

I have put new disc brakes & new spark plugs!!! "BUT the biggest thing that I did was install a new Drive Chain & Sprokets on this bike"!

You will have many enjoyable seasons of maintenance-free as well as problem-free riding!

The bike is listed locally and can be seen at my home in Farmington Hills, Michigan @10 Mile and Middlebelt area~ close too I-96 highway.

My name is Steve: contact me @ (248) 252-6988, with any questions you may have or a time to come by & see it!

    Notice the phrase

This bike is well maintained~it looks and runs excellant!

It’s far from that. Since the bike did not come thru eBay there is no recourse thru there so the only recourse is to build this blog and put all the pictures of the bike on it. Shame on me for not getting better “pitchers” before I bought the bike but the fellow sounded sincere. He is not.

Steve Wadha misrepresented the bike he was selling !

Steve Wadha is not to be trusted and I hope no one else is dumb enough to ever buy anything from him !
